Dr René KOLTZ (1911-1971) completed his exams as a general practitioner in 1933 and worked as a family doctor in Junglinster, where he took on the office of mayor from 1951 to 1957. From 1948 to 1965, he was the Secretary of the “Conseil Médical”. From 1957-1971, Dr. René Koltz served as the Director of the state spa at Mondorf and was simultaneously the “Médecin-Directeur” of the government “Santé” department. Dr. René Koltz was married to the author Anise Koltz. In 1962, they founded the “Mondorfer Dichtertagen” [Mondorf Poetry Days]. René Koltz died on July 1, 1971 as a result of the torture he suffered at the hands of the Nazis during the last world war.
