NFO: Here, south of Bourglinster, between the woods of “Baambësch” and “Grünewald” lies a furtile plateau. Artifacts from excavations, as well as rich surface finds from the paleolithic and mesolithic witness to the early settlement of this region. Along the modern track along the “Héich Maark”, there stood a row of iron age bloomery hearths using bog iron from the “Ielzert”. This ore was previous washed in Eisenborn. The charcoal required for melting the ore was provided by the surrounding forest.
