Madame Thill Kim (Nokommen Fam. Glesener)

Marcel Glesener (1920 – 1944)

Marcel Glesener was born on 23 September 1920 in Siebenaler and came to Beelenhaff in the mid-1930s together with his 14 siblings and his parents. His mother died as early as 1939. During the war, his father, Nicolas Glesener, hid around 20 refractors and an RAF pilot from the Nazis.

Marcel Glesener was 22 years old when he was forcibly recruited by the Nazi regime in 1942 and had to leave his home to fight for the German Reich, in the uniform he hated.

Marcel wrote many letters to his family to let them know how he was doing. He describes how terrible it is and how cold it is in his uniform. Sometimes they had to lie on the floor for a few hours.

In mid-March 1944, Marcel Glesener was taken prisoner during war operations in eastern Ukraine, west of the Ingluez River, against the Soviet army. He was then taken to Camp 101 in Laparosh in the Ukraine.

Marcel Glesener died of malnutrition in the night of 12 to 13 September 1944 in the hospital of this camp..
