Emile Nilles, born July 16, 1920 and died Feb. 9, 2005, was the first carpenter and tradesman to establish a business where the first industrial area was located. His company was therefore the first in an area where more tradesmen eventually settled, and which later grew into the industrial region of “Laangwiess”. In honor and memory of this tradesman and indirect “founder” of the regional industrial zones Laangwiess I and II, the city council named a street in this area after Emil Nilles.
