Kulturwege Godbrange

Walddëstelpad There are very few places where one can find such a impressive grove of holly as along this wildly romantic cultural path. In times past, the coal plants smoked here, delivering the smelting works in Fischbach with charcoal. In prehistoric times, the Celts set up their bloomery furnaces here. A cross-section of a coal plant, as well as a reconstruction of a bloomery furnace, are reminders along the path of those times. Grinding traces along the route are silent witnesses to the early settlement of this area. Haerdgespad The mysterious Härtgeslay with its monumental figures, carved into the rock face during the Gallo-Roman era, is one of the absolute highlights of this region. The Freylay, a neolithic-Celtic cult site, is a reminder of times long past. The path leads past the “Mardellen”, or small ponds of the “Bierger Forest” and close to Altlinster, founded by Celts. The ancient chapel is particularly worth a look, where members of the long-lost family of knights, the Lords of Linster, were laid to rest, whose first castle was located in Altlinster. Blumendallerpad The Blumendallerpfad delights not only thanks to its culture highlights, but also the beautiful and varied landscape. Numerous rock overhangs along the path offered shelter to neolithic hunters. The romantic woodland lake “Schwäibësch” invites passers-by to rest a while. The way leads over the high plateau “Koon”, where excavations have already uncovered a prehistoric settlement that continued all the way down into the Blumental valley, and finally through the scenic “Jangharisgroon” and back to the starting point.
