In the old days, there lived a well-known carpenter in Bourglinster whose cow, though well-fed and not with young, gave no milk. The carpenter complained to the pastor of Junglinster (Bourglinster belonged to the parish of Junglinster at the time) of his trouble and asked him to bless his stall. The pastor did so, and slowly but surely, the carpenter’s cow began to give milk again. As the pastor returned to Junglinster after the blessing, he encountered a hideous old woman who tossed him an evil glance. And what happened? Eight days later, the pastor’s own cow died. Not long after, the carpenter met the pastor, who said to him, “I helped you out of your trouble and myself into it. My cow has gone back.” Teacher Brandenburg of Burglinster
