Vantage point Donatus Chapel Eschweiler
Above Eschweiler on the road to Beidweiler on the “Steipesbierg” on hiking trail J21/J24

On this site there is a well-preserved chapel, dedicated to St. Donatus. This is a historic place. Apparently during the time of migration between 440 and 447 BCE, Attila the Hun is said to have made camp with his army on his way to Rome. Today, when the weather is fair, this place is favored by amatuer astronomers for their observations. From this high vantage point, one has a wonderful view of the whole valley of the Beidelerbach, as well as the RTL transmission towers.
