René Meyers (1924 – 1943)

René Meyers was born on 2 April 1924 in Junglinster and was an only child. His parents came from Junglinster. When he was forcibly recruited, René Meyers was not yet employed.
After René Meyers reached the age of 18, he had to join the Reich‘s Arbeitsdienst (RAD), the Field Training Battalion 719. This service lasted 6 months. After that, around the beginning of 1943, he was forced into the German uniform.
René Meyers died on 7 November 1943 at the age of only 19. He died in Dretun, today's Belarus, from a splinter in the stomach after a Soviet attack.
